the menu that pops up is appropriate to the mouse pointer position when the Menu button was pressed. Further, they can be context-sensitive, i.e. In a multi-tasking environment, pop-up menus are much more useable. This is an alternative to the menu bar approach, where an area of the screen is dedicated to providing a fixed set of menu headers. That is, they can be made to appear when the user clicks on the appropriate mouse button - the middle Menu button. Menus also form an important part of WIMP-based programs. In the first three cases, the Wimp can maintain the icon automatically, even to the point of performing text input without the application's intervention. An icon is a rectangular area in a window whose contents can be text, a sprite, both, or user-drawn graphics. This is especially true if a program takes advantage of icons. Very often, much of the work of keeping a window's contents up to date can be delegated to the Wimp. It merely has to respond appropriately to the messages it receives from the Wimp, in addition to performing its own processing (using the routines supplied to perform window operations). Thus, the task needs to make as few intelligent decisions as possible. The Wimp co-operates with the task in keeping the screen display correct by telling the task when something needs to be redrawn. The responsibility of drawing and maintaining these windows is shared between the application(s) and the Window Manager. These are used to implement a 'desktop' metaphor, where the windows represent documents on a desk. In this section, the words task, program and application should be treated as synonyms.Īn immediately recognisable feature of Wimp programs is their use of overlapping rectangular windows on the screen. Programs that run under the Wimp are often called tasks, because they are operating under a multi-tasking environment. The manager itself is usually referred to as the Wimp. The Window Manager is designed to simplify the task of producing programs to run under a WIMP (Windows, Icons, Menus and Pointer) environment. You will find it benefits both you and other programmers if you make all your applications run under the Window Manager (and in a consistent manner), since this will lead to a much richer RISC OS environment. This should make it easier for users to learn how to use your software, as they will already be familiar with the necessary techniques. This chapter also gives guidelines on how your applications should behave so that they are consistent with other RISC OS applications. it also provides the means for you to make your applications run in a multi-tasking environment, so they can interact with each other, and with other software.it provides a simple to use graphical interface, that makes your applications more accessible to a wider range of users. The Window Manager is an important part of RISC OS because: It provides the facilities you need to write applications that work in the Desktop windowing environment that RISC OS provides. This chapter describes the Window Manager. RISC OS PRMs: Volume 3: Chapter 53: The Window Manager

When legacy Firefox began to support Webex as well as XUL extensions, I did try the Webex version of uBO, but went back to the legacy one later, mainly because again it was easier to use a single version which all of my browsers supported. In those days, I did not yet use uMatrix nor Request Policy, and I do not think that Gorhill had released uM yet. IIRC, uBO at that point worked with all of those browsers, and it was convenient to have an extension which was universally compatible. It wasn't because I was using Pale Moon, though I WAS using Pale Moon some of the time, along with FireFox of one or another of what we call the 'legacy' versions, as well as SeaMonkey. I've used uBO for quite a while, several years anyway, and I began doing so for the more common reasons, in that it was advertised as being easy on resource usage compared to AdBlock Plus, and that ABP had made a deal with some of the devils, and had begun to allow selected ads to be displayed. Good thing that I checked the Moz forum tonight, I reckon. To those of you with more experience than I with uBO is there anything I should be aware of, be cautious about?. So, with that stated.what is a "repo" repository?-and what do you have stored there? □įor reason(s) I have never been able to pinpoint, I find github confusing-confusing enough that I only go there if I absolutely have to. >I have a whole GitHub repo for just that. Basically, that option allows uBO to function in a similar manner to both Request Policy and uMatrix both of which I've been using quite a while and would not get online without (well.prior to my installing uBO). Yes, so I discovered by checking the "I am an advanced user" option because without that checked, any customizing and user-chosen allow/block are awkward at best. >You do have some measure of control as you can allow / deny any aspect of the site or the whole thing to your liking. If you mean the PM forum, I rarely, if ever, visit although now that Tobin (I visited enough to know who he is) is gone, it might be worth visiting more.'-}} >I used Pale Moon for a bit but the whole community aspect of it turned me off, but that's another topic altogether. To those of you with more experience than I with uBO is there anything I should be aware of, be cautious about? I need to test it more but I think I may start using uBO instead of Request Policy and uMatrix and, AdBlock. Then late last night, I thought I might have an idea of what the issue was and was able to test it today and sure enough, checkmarking "I am an advanced user" made the magic happen and now I can easily and quickly block indifividual entries as I'm used to doing in both uMatrix and Request Policy. I figured there was something I was missing (likely something obvious) and that maybe I'd post here and ask. A couple of hours later, curiousity got the better of me and I installed the uBO legacy version in one of my Pale Moon (portable) iterations and fiddled with it a bit but finding it somewhat annoying compared to uMatrix (same author) because the process to block stuff was so clunky. I passed on all the info and links I'd found in a post making a point to note that I'd not used uBO and they were on their own to figure out how it worked. Link to uBlock Legacy for Pale Moon: » /gorhill/uBloc Link to Pale Moon's addons/extensions search for "ublock": » /sear releases ) and then double checking Pale Moon's addons/extension list, I found a link to the uBO Legacy version for Pale Moon:.There was some difficulty finding the Pale Moon uBO and so yesterday I did a bit of searching moving through github (which I always find confusing although I'm not sure why and this link is the general (not PM version) ubo addon: » /gorhill/uBloc I'd recently suggested to someone in another forum that they might find uBO useful although I'd never used it myself-I use uMatrix and Request Policy but had never gotten around to trying uBO. But one of the benefits of becoming an adult is getting to own some truly nice pots and pans (no more roommate hand-me-downs!). No matter how you slice it, growing up is hard to do: There’s more responsibilities, more decisions, and, of course, way more expenses. It's about 'real' reactions to impossible situations. Turn on the TV these days and the most popular shows you will see are what they call 'reality' TV. However, when we don’t and we sink, if we only look to Him again and reach out to Him, He is there to restore us…giving no condemnation, only unconditional love. When the wind kicks up and things look bleak and scary around us, we are to constantly look at Him -not the storm around us. The Lord firmly calls us to step out in Faith, no matter what the circumstances look like. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is of Peter walking on the water, so I decided to write a song about it. All things were created by Him and for Him.ĭeuteronomy 31:6 Psalm 25:15 Matthew 14:24-33 Luke 6:46-49 Man, the created image of God, cultivates an idea placed in his heart by the Almighty, then tries to take the credit by saying "look what I have come up with". I thought about this and my eyes were opened to the fact that God has caused all things to exist to glorify Him - whether it's a tree, a guitar, a radio, a car or simply the air we breathe. It went on to say how God caused the idea for airplanes to come about, not for people to go joy riding and having fun, but to bring glory to God. The article mentioned about a 747 full of food, clothing & medical supplies being flown into a third world country to help the people there. This song came pouring out one day after reading a magazine article. Versions for Windows and the clickwheel iPod have been discontinued. Overall, I think Shotcut is a great free video editor that anyone can use after a little bit of practice and through some of my testing I found out that it can even process some raw 8K footage from a camera we rented. If you have the possibility to install a heavier video editor there are free alternatives that would be more useful. The possibilities of making professional projects with this video editor are impossible, aspects like colorization or effects are so basic if not almost non-existent. This video editor looks and works like an early version of any top video editor, if you miss windows movie maker, Shotcut is that limited and basic software that for some reason you're looking for. If what you're looking for is a video editor that leaves you to work on any PC, this is the right one, because just as you can work on a low-specs Windows, you can work on a Mac of previous generations. What I like about Shotcut is that it is free and very light, few video editors bet on a multiplatform network that permits us to continue our project on any operating system, and this is the most looking thing about this software. Sometimes we don't need to invest much money to captivate our clients. Sometime I got to produce a visual series for an LP using this video editor, I was able to produce something visually appealing, but on occasions, I was limited by the features and tools of this software, Shotcut saved me when my PC couldn't handle powerful video editors and allowed me to design something that my clients ended up loving. It lacks a variety of scene transitions that more expensive programs have but it does have the basics. Also it's slow while it publishes your final work but if you're patient it's well worth the wait to save money. It takes a little while to figure out how everything works. All in all, Shotcut has been a great choice for me. mp4 which makes editing much easier and I'm unable to discern any loss of video quality. They look totally professional and the feedback I've gotten has been very positive. I've done numerous music videos and little comedy skits that I've uploaded to YouTube and they come out great. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as expensive programs but it does plenty enough to do most basic projects. All in all I'm very pleased with Shotcut, I highly recommend it. This will definitely teach you the basics for free before you decide to lay out your cash. If you can master Shotcut, you'll be in perfect shape to advance to a more expensive program later on. This program is perfect for those on a budget or for a beginner. Since the amount of scene transitions is limited I find myself concentrating more on the quality of the scenes themselves instead of the transitions, which is a good thing. So far I've had no problems with Shotcut. The software is really good and lightweight and even has a portable version. CONSĪs you could probably expect Shotcut doesn't have some of the features of the higher end video editing software such as powerful color correction. It's a must for who is starting out and feels like the popular software is either too expensive or too overwhelming. Similar software requires an additional encoder when with Shotcut it's a simple 3-5 step process. I think that my favorite thing about Shotcut is how easy it is to create proxies for heavy videos. You have all the necessary information and buttons to work with and if and only if you want to go deeper you'll have to face the more complex functions of the software. Shotcut was what allowed me to start with its simple and minimalistic interface. Usually when you open video editing software you're met with so many buttons and so much information that it gets scary to even try. Before using more sophisticated software for video editing it was what helped me get familiar with a lot of concepts that were completely alien to me and it taught me how to use channels and separate audio from the video files and other useful things that looked too complicated to do in similar software. Shotcut is a very simple and easy to use video editor. If the fact that Shoctut is open source (free) isn't enough for you to use it allow me to go deeper. Learn more and view a full list of features at the Shotcut website.A true delight if I have to be honest. You can also add audio, subtitles and speed effects, and reverse a clip. Shotcut allows you to trim, cut and edit graphics, images and colours, and you can open files by drag-n-drop, as well as the usual menu and toolbar methods. More advanced than Story Remix but not as complex as Blender, the software has a sleek, intuitive interface including dockable and undockable panels, and supports hundreds of audio and video formats and codecs. Shotcut is a cross-platform video editor which allows you to edit videos, add effects and create a movie. |
